Well, the Kaurava forces then might capture and kill me with all their weapons very brutally in the war field. Even then, I will remain unarmed and I will not retaliate at all. This is, in my opinion, a better option for me.

Note: the Arjuna used a word ‘kshe:matharam’ in the slo:ka. This a statement of comparitive degree. The positive and superlative degrees for this would be ‘kshe:mam and kshe:ma thamam’ respectively. There is a rule that says whoever sacrifice their lives in the righteous war will certainly attain vi:ra swarga, the great heaven. Now, if this war takes place, according to Arjuna, the Kauravas will be defeated for sure. Then they go to that Heaven, in spite of all their sinful life. And these Pa:ndavas also will be going to the same Heaven, after having gone through all these hardships for many decades for righteousness. This is of course, okay, both enjoying the same Heaven. And that is ‘kshe:mam’.

But now this Arjuna, being unarmed and unreciprocative, if killed by the Kauravas, then, he goes to Vi:ra Swarga and the Kauravas will definitely go to Gho:ra Naraka, a nasty Hell. Comparatively this is really better in his opinion.

Hence the Arjuna used the word ‘kshe:matharam’, a statement of comparative degree. This shows Arjuna's jealousy on Kauravas.

Thath = that
Bhave:th = becomes
Kshe:makaram = a better option
Yadi = even if
Sasthra pa:nayaha = armed
Dha:rthara:shtra:ha = forces of Dhruthara:shtra
Hanyuhu = slay
Ma:m = me
Aprathi:ka:ram = an un-reciprocative
Asasthram = and unarmed one
Rane: = in the battleground
